3 Flix

You know what I like?....Movies.
You know what I don't like?....When people do any of these three things (as pertains to movies):

  1. Tell me that I "Have" to see a movie.
  2. Tell me that I "Shouldn't" see a movie.
  3. Tell me more than the title of a movie that they recommend.

Call me crazy but that's how I like it. SO I will assume that there are a few people like me out there who will trust the "relationship" that they have with a person and if they say "Hey, I saw ___ the other day and I thought it was good" you should trust that all you need to know is wrapped up in that, or a similar short statement. There a plenty of people that "review" movies and tell you nuances and short coming that they probably know nothing about. I am not one of those people.

That said, my three filx for this week are:

Bella - liked it a lot.

Monsters vs. Aliens - Great even without IMAX or 3-D

Eastern Promises - Damn Good

..until next week!

That's ma boy!!!

I just had to say somehting about this one. Apparently scientist in the UK have created robotic scientist named Adam. Coincidentally, my wife and I made an Adam that will someday know more than myself and perform all of my tasks with the greatest of ease. Before you ask, yes there is an Eve as well.
Adam can carry out up to 1,000 experiments each day, and was designed to investigate the function of genes in yeast cells - it has worked out the role of 12 of these genes. Biologists use the yeast cells to investigate biological systems because they are simple and easy to study. So does that mean all those lab assistant positions on criagslist can come down?
Not yet.
Duc Pham from the Manufacturing Engineering Centre at Cardiff University described the robot scientist as "a clever application of robotics and computer software". But, he added, "it's more like a junior lab assistant" than a scientist. "It will be a long time before computers can replace human scientists."
So it looks like it will be a while before the robots completely take over. It's not like they already make our cars or our food or drugs or LEGOs or bikes or sweep our streets or deliver mail. And we don't have robotic pets that can go crazy and attack us yet...Right?

I said it before and I'll say it again, "Be careful playing god, you might create some devils". (Okay, that's the first time I've ever said that but it sounds good and I mean it.)

32GB iPhone, COULD IT BE???

YES (it could..."could"). According to Dawn Kawamoto of cnet.com, who says, according to Daniel Amir, a Lazard Capital Markets analyst, Apple has been buying tons (literally) of 32GB NAND flash memory [full story]. Which could mean that they are ramping up to produce 32GB iPhones. Apple has already announced that iPhone 3.0 software will be out "soon". Apple, in their usuall fashion, is not setting dates as of yet. So what does this all mean? NOTHING! It's all rumor and speculation for now. That's just how it works with technology now a days. For me, well my birthday is in early June so it looks like I may be trading up the 16 for a 32. June seems good, because that's when Apple seems to relaese new firmware for the iPhone.

.010” thick, stainless steel, 2"x3.5" business card

You gotta start somewhere right? Business cards are an interesting aspect of modern adult communication. In some circles just having one can mean the difference between landing a job and not. For me I've always thought of them as micro art that can say a little about a lot or a lot about a little.

When I started conceiving the designed of the fortythree business card I really wanted it to represent me. To some that me sound a bit deep but when you have 2"x3.5" to help leave an impression you should make it count. Even before the initial doodling I knew I wanted the cards to be metal. I did some searching around and found Acu-Line Corporation a Seattle based company that specializes in photochemical etching. I sent them a email with some artwork attached and after a few emails back and forth (and some redesigns on my part) the cards showed up at my door. I can't say enough good things about Greg at Acu-Line. The guy was relentless about making sure the artwork was the best it could be before he made the initial plate.

The cards look great but just as important it the feel that really gets people. If you have an for a metal card or other metal etching pieces I suggest contacting Acu-Line.
